The Department of Psychology Offers two courses in Psychology:
B.A (Hons.) Applied Psychology
B.A. (Prog)
The new course framework is based on the NEP Syllabus and has several exit options for students. The Department is a vibrant and diversity inclusive space that offers both academic excellence and holistic wellness.
The Applied Psyhology Honours course primarily aims at developing an understanding of the growing discipline of psychology and promoting skill based education to equip students to respond to the needs and challenges of society. The course intends to enable students in developing skills and competencies needed for meeting the challenges and needs of the real world effectively. The course in Applied Psychology is loaded with practicum conducted through experiential exercises, field studies and projects in most papers which helps students to learn the real life applications of the concepts studied in the class. Hence, attendance in practicum is necessary for students. Students are encouraged to develop an understanding of real life issues and participate in the programs and practices in the social context. We utilize audio-visual aids and web based sources (like documentaries, videos, films etc.) to make the teaching-learning process interactive, interesting and fruitful. The faculty is extensively trained in their areas of research and we have a history of having University Gold Medallists from our Department.
