Our goal is to equip the students with the knowledge and skills to act as stewards of the nature along with innovative research that ultimately will contribute to sustainable global ecosystems.

The Department of Botany, Gargi College is driven by idea to make exemplary contribution in the field of Plant Sciences. Our mission includes motivating students to pursue higher education, implement cutting-edge research in various aspects of Plant Sciences, along with inculcating keen observation of the surrounding for developing a scientific curiosity. Botany department offers intership programs to students for their personal and professional growth as well.  To inculcate team work and research spirit amongst the students, various undergraduate level projects are encouraged along with academic curriculum. Along with this, environmental sensitization, or eco-awareness forms a imperative part of their training in order to stay connected with nature. By nurturing this sensitivity, students build a sense of responsibility towards sustainability and conservation. Students are taken for botanical excursions where they learn in situ the real world of plants. The Department of Botany offers various add-on courses on various aspects of botanical studies which add value to the main course and help students in their future endeavours. In addition to this, regular workshops and invited lectures are conducted by eminent scientists followed by academic interactions.

Botany department alumnae are known for their persisting involvement in the development of the department. They provide valuable career guidance to students. This mentorship connection bridges generations as they offer insights that can shape theit path. Faculty are also involved in mentoring students to resolve their personal and professional queries and ensure their mental wellbeing. Students are provided feedback forms for each paper to ensure self development of faculty to improve teaching methodology.
