Dr CK Khurana Memorial Lecture

Rasgandhayan, the Chemical Society of Gargi College, organized the Dr. CK Khurana Memorial Lecture, commemorating the invaluable contributions of our beloved teacher, Dr. CK Khurana. 
Her passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment still inspire us. We together celebrated her life and work as a tribute to Dr. CK Khurana.
A lecture on the  topic Introduction to Chemoinformatics : New Frontier in Healthcare was delivered by Dr. Shailesh Kumar, PhD, Scientist IV, and In-charge of the Computational Biology & Bioinformatics Facility (CBBF) at the National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR) on April 9, 2024.

Science day- Poster Making Competition

The Chemical Society of Gargi College, Rasgandhayan, in collaboration with Indraprastha Vigyan Bharati, successfully organized a poster making event on National Science Day. A distinguished group of judges, Dr. Chandana Mukherjee and Dr. Tripti Kumari assessed the posters based on creativity, scientific accuracy, and presentation abilities. 

The winners were Manvi Chauhan (1st Prize) of 2nd Year from BSc(H) Physics, Manak (2nd Prize) of 2nd Year from BSc(H) Chemistry and Sanjana (3rd Prize) of 3rd Year from BSc(H) Zoology, along with consolation prize awarded to Saumya Vaid of 1st Year from BSc(H) Chemistry. 

A digital poster making competition for the students of Chemistry Department was also organised, whose results were declared with 1st prize awarded to Arju Yadav (3rd Year), 2nd prize to Sanskriti Singh (3rd Year) and 3rd prize to Ritu Kumari (2nd Year).

Lecture on Crime Scene Management

Rasgandhayan, the Chemical Society of Gargi College, under the aegis of SEC-Forensic Chemistry conducted a lecture on Crime Scene Managment by speaker, Dr. G.S Sodhi,former Associate Professor of Chemistry and Forensic Science, S.G.T.B Khalsa College, University of Delhi. Students also had a hands on experience of a mock crime scene.

Chemaroma- Inter College Paper Presentation

The Chemical Society of Gargi College, Rasgandhayan (President- Ms Sanskriti Singh) organised CHEMAROMA - an Inter-College Paper Presentation Competition on 30th of January. 

The event brought together a diverse group of students from various academic disciplines and aimed to provide a platform for participants to present their research and exchange ideas. 

A panel of esteemed judges, Dr. Poonam Sharma (Dept. of Zoology, Gargi College) and our Alumna- Dr. Prerna Singh (Zakir Hussain Delhi College) evaluated the presentations, followed by interactive Q&S sessions with the participants and the audience. 

The event ended with a vote of thanks and recognition of winners with awards to Ms Vridhi Shoor (1st Position), Mr Ravneet (2nd Position) and Mr Shanu Kumar (3rd Position). 

All the participants were recognised with a certificate of appreciation. The  participants' enthusiasm made the competition a commendable success.

The society thanks Dr Sushmita Chowdhury and Dr B Vaijayanthi for donating the prizes.

Visit to IISF

With the immense excitement and enthusiasm to learn, the Chemistry and BSc Prog departments of Gargi College visited the IISF 2023 held at DBT THSTI- RCB campus, Faridabad, Delhi on 18th January 2024. 
The festival had many interesting exhibitions, games, and speaker sessions.
The meeting with ISRO Chairman Shri S Somanath was the most enthralling part of the day. By the end of the day, all the students were very much fascinated with the scientific explorations they witnessed.

Short-term course on Waste Management and Sustainability

An online short-term course on Waste Management and Sustainability was organised and 60 students across all disciplines participated and benefitted from the course. The main objective of the course was to sensitise students on issues related to improper waste management, deteriorating quality of the environment and its impact and to motivate them to adopt a sustainable lifestyle for their own and environmental betterment. A series of 10 lectures, were organised on different themes of waste management and sustainability. To make the course more engaging an offline quiz and creative activity for waste-to-wealth production was also organised. To get an insight into best practices used for waste management, two field visits one at TWEPL-Tehkhand waste to electricity Production, Okhla and the other at the sewage treatment plant, Okhla STP of Delhi Jal Board, New Delhi were organised. During field visits, students learnt the waste-to-energy conversion technology and purification & reusing the sewage wastewater. The learning outcome of the course was fully achieved and students understood the fundamental principles and concepts of waste management.

Lecture- Intellectual Property Rights

Rasgandhayan, the Chemical Society of Gargi College, organized a lecture session on the topic, " Intellectual Property Rights" by Dr. Rashmi Tandon, Senior Associate, Lall and Sethi. The event began shortly after welcoming the guest speaker, teachers and students. The lecture featured comprehensive information of intellectual property fundamentals including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and other essentials, helping the attendees to gain a clear understanding of protecting and maintaining their innovative projects and developments. The event concluded with Miss. Sanskriti Singh, President of Rasgandhayan, addressing the vote of thanks to everyone who attended the lecture.

Rasgandhayan, under the Aegis of Digital Empowerment course organized a session on Linkedln.

Mr AKASH GOGRI, an expert in digital networking, guided attendees on creating an impressive LinkedIn profile.

Global Roti Day March

The students of Chemical Society (Rasgandhayan) Gargi College, took part in the  Global Roti Day March on  September 28, 2023 organized by Vishalakshi Foundation in partnership with Rasgandhayan.

This project aimed to make India a hunger-free country. This march included a 15km walk from India Gate to Arts Faculty in North Campus, Delhi University to distribute food to people in need.

Green Consumer Day

To mark Green Consumer Day, Rasgandhayan, the Chemical Society, of Gargi College organized a 'Best Out of Waste' competition on September 26, 2023.

The competition provided a platform for the participants to display their creativity, encourage recycling, and increase awareness of the significance of waste minimization.

The competition was judged by Dr. Nisha Saini and Dr. Manisha Singla based on innovation, presentation, and effective use of waste materials.

The first prize was bagged by Zarqa and Fiza (B.El.Ed.), and the second prize by Prerna (BA Hons).

World Ozone Day

Every year on September 16, the world remembers how crucial it is to protect the ozone layer by observing International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. The ozone is the quilt that is protecting us all, and world ozone day is the reminder that it is time to protect the quilt. So to cherish and safeguard it, the Chemical Society RASGANDHAYAN, Gargi College, organised a Tree Plantation Ceremony on the occasion of World Ozone Day, with the support of our Presidents Ms. Sanskriti Singh and Vice President, Ms. Arju Yadav.

To celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), Rasgandhayan - The Chemical Society of Gargi College organised an Oral Talk Competition followed by documentary screening on the topic
