Community Outreach - May 2024

The Department of Commerce, Gargi College, organized a visit to Janta Adarsh Andh Vidyalaya, Sadik Nagar on 9th May 2024 under its ‘Community Outreach Program’. A reading session with children was organized in which teachers read the story aloud for children. Children enjoyed the session and participated in it. Braille papers and snacks were also donated by teachers. Interacting with the children was enlightening. Their positive attitude and determination served as a powerful reminder that with the right support and mindset anything is possible.

Thriving U: Unleash your Healthiest Self - The Art of Being Happy

On 16 April 2024, under the Value Addition Course, ‘The Art of Being Happy’, the invited speaker Ms. Gauri Agarwal, Founder - Livable Planet, conducted a lively & interactive session on paying attention to nutrition in order to unleash one’s healthiest self. She shared valuable information on keeping the gut happy to ensure overall wellbeing. One must exercise daily, eat water-rich foods, not mix fruits and cooked food, rest well, not eat when sad or angry, etc. She shared personal experiences to highlight the improvements to her and her family members' health by ensuring that she eats healthy food and keeps junk food to a minimum. An activity was conducted where students read the ingredients of packaged food products to become more aware of their contents and were, therefore, empowered to make better food choices.

Pathfinder Competition 2023-24

The Commerce Pathfinder Competition 2023-24 was held on 10th April 2024 in Gargi College. The judges were Dr. Rajni Jagota, Associate Professor, PGDAV College, and Dr. Varun Bhandari, Assistant Professor, Shyam Lal College. First prize was won by Avani, B.Com III Year, who presented her research on "Investigating the Impact of the Single-use Plastic Prohibition on Local Enterprises and Consumers: Discrepancy between Intention and Behaviour within the Context of Circular Economy and the 5R's". 

Jiya and Ayushi Arora, B. Com (Hons.) III Year won the second prize for their research entitled "From Deceptive Labels to Holistic Lifestyle: Analysis of Food Labeling in India and Its Implications on Gen Z", under the mentorship of Prof. Geeta Sidharth. The third position was bagged by Diya Gupta and Gunika Katyal, B. Com (Hons.) II Year students, for their research entitled "Navigating The Retail Revolution Through Omni-Channels", under the mentorship of Dr. Mandakini Das and Ms. Aakriti Chaudhry.

Cascade 2024

On 9th April 2024, the Commerce Association of Gargi College organised its annual fest "Cascade’24" on the theme “Cinematic Dynamics: Unveiling the nexus of commerce, market trends and consumer behaviour”. The symposium highlighted the relationship between the creative and the commercial aspects of cinema and connecting films to market dynamics and audience.

The speakers, Ms. Meena Chabbria, VP – Sales, PVR Ltd and Ms. Ishita Mehta, a powerhouse Producer and Executive with 17 years of experience in entertainment, engaged in an interactive discussion with our moderator Dr. Prachi Kalra, Associate Professor, B.El.Ed Department, Gargi College.

The speakers shared their valuable insights regarding the theme of the event. Ms. Chabbria talked to students about her journey and discussed personal experiences that influenced her ideas and opinions. She focused on the importance of films from the point of view of marketing and catering to the audience. Ms. Mehta shared valuable insights about marketing budgets and the various stages involved in making a film. Additionally, there was a brief talk on the impact of over-the-top streaming services (OTTs) on the cinema experience. The floor was then opened for questions by students, which were enthusiastically answered. This was followed by an interactive quiz session that involved all students present.

The formal session was followed by two informal competitions. Overall, the Commerce Association provided a platform for initiating conversations about the film business as well as the business behind films. The event was a huge success thanks to the hard effort of The Commerce Association and the continuous support of the faculty advisors, leaving everyone with great learnings.

Golden Jubilee Rendezvous - Aikyam

The "Golden Jubilee Rendezvous" at Gargi College, organized by Aikyam - The Gargi Comconnect, on April 7, 2024, commemorated 50 years of the Commerce Department, with alumnae as the primary attendees. The event celebrated the Department's legacy, featured cultural performances, alumnae speeches, interactive games. Lasting connections were fostered among current and former students, and faculty. It was a joyful gathering filled with shared memories and camaraderie, and a wish to meet again soon.

Educational Trip to Arun Jaitley Park - March 2024

Students of value addition course, ‘The Art of Being Happy’, had a joyous morning on 5th March 2024, with a memorable trip to Arun Jaitley Park. Accompanied by teachers from the Department of Commerce, they indulged in physical exercise, nature walk, fun games, and a picnic! They explored the rich flora of the park, engaging their five senses. Students experienced the healing power of nature. The visit enhanced all the aspects of their wellbeing, and gave them a sense of happiness, away from the usual classroom interaction.

The Alumnae Speaker Series ‘ComConnect Insights’ on 27 February 2024, featured Sonia Jaiswal, a distinguished alumna. Known for her contributions to the fashion industry, Sonia shared her journey from Gargi College to establishing “That’s Indian” and her flagship store. She emphasized perseverance, self-belief, and integrity, urging students to pursue their passions fearlessly. An interactive Q&A later, attendees were inspired to embrace creativity and resilience on their paths to success.

Awareness Programme on Commodity Derivatives and Risk Management

Department of Commerce organized a seminar on Commodity Derivatives and Price Risk Management on 22nd February 2024. The Guest Speaker, Mr. Sanjay Gakhar, the Vice President and Regional Head for Business Development at MCX, New Delhi, covered various market aspects including stock markets, debt markets, spot and forward markets, along with discussions delving into commodity price risk factors such as supply-demand dynamics, uncertainties in price behaviour, challenges in facing such risks and strategies like Titan's Golden Harvest to mitigate risk. The importance of understanding the value chain of commodities like gold and the impact of brand equity on pricing were highlighted. Students were encouraged to grasp concepts like volatility, hedging and speculating and to foster a deeper understanding of the financial market landscape.

NSIC Field Visit in February 2024

On 21st February 2024, the Commerce Department organized a field visit to NSIC for an entrepreneurship orientation. Ms Uzma Mumtaz highlighted the objectives and mission of the organization. The session also covered valuable information about MSME registration and initiatives, followed by an incubator tour. The visit encouraged the students to become successful entrepreneurs and avail the opportunities offered by various government organizations to promote the entrepreneurial spirit.

Workshop on MS-Excel in January 2024

The Commerce Department of Commerce in collaboration with the Research and Development Cell, Gargi College organized a two-day MS Excel online workshop for teaching and non- teaching staff on January 20th and 21st, 2024 via Google Meet. The resource persons of the workshop were Prof. Narain, FMS, University of Delhi and Dr. Harendra Nath Tiwari SRCC, University of Delhi . The workshop covered topics such as basics of spreadsheet, conditional formatting, pivot dashboards, normal distribution, data analysis and hypothesis testing, emphasizing the software's relevance in research for academicians.

Aikyam - The Gargi ComConnect Alumnae Speaker Series 2023-24

On December 1, 2023, AIKYAM, the Alumnae Association, Department of Commerce organized a panel discussion, showcasing the perspectives of three distinguished alumnae: Ms. Lavanya Trehan, Ms. Nikunj Agarwal, and Ms. Varunavi Chauhan. They discussed entrepreneurship, mood tracking for passion, networking, and addressing gender inequalities. Emphasizing persistence, seizing opportunities, and personal growth, the session inspired students and provided insights on professional journeys.

Learnovation - November 2023

The Commerce Association in collaboration with the Global Risk Management Institute, hosted a Learnovation session on 28th November 2023. Guest speakers Mr. Subhasish Nath and Mr. Puneet Malhotra discussed the significance of risk analysis and mitigation strategies in the business landscape, while also outlining the institute's inclusive courses specially designed for those aspiring to work in this field. It was an insightful session for all present.

Community Outreach in October 2023

On 27th October, The Commerce Department visited the Janta Adarsh Andh Vidyalaya, a blind school in Sadiq Nagar for the Community Outreach Drive. A brief introduction by the school principal was given explaining about the importance of the visit, followed by snack distribution by The Department of Commerce. The smiles of joy on the students' and the faculty's faces were a great motivator for all. A highlight of the visit was engaging in meaningful conversations with the students. It was a cherishable moment for everyone present.

Educational Trip to Arun Jaitley Park - October 2023

The Department of Commerce organized an educational trip to Arun Jaitley Park for the Value Addition Course, ‘The Art of Being Happy’, from 7:30 – 8:30 am, on 20th October 2023. Students and Faculty Members engaged in several fun games and physical exercises to rejuvenate themselves. Tuning in to nature and the flora and fauna with their five senses, they laughed, relaxed, and walked back to College with a lighter step and an enhanced sense of wellbeing. Students did not want to come back and there was a feeling of happiness in the air.

The Pathfinder orientation 2023-24 was conducted on 18th October 2023. The general guidelines of the Competition were imparted to the students followed by an interactive Q&A session, revisiting the history of the competition with the past winning topics to give a broad idea to the students.

Workshop on Art of Being Happy - October 2023

The Department of Commerce organized a workshop on the Value Addition Course, ‘The Art of Being Happy’, on 17th October 2023. The speaker, Mr. Sanjiv Ranjan, Founder, All India Institute of Mind Body Medicine, shared the importance of cultivating gratitude for the little things to feel happier and peaceful. He elaborated that the seed of happiness lies inside each one of us. The audience experienced the invigorating yogic clapping and the peace of meditation. Mr. Ranjan stressed that the art of being happy lies in staying in the present moment, and not oscillating between the past and the future.

Entrepreneurship Conclave, October 2023

The Department conducted the Entrepreneurship Conclave on the theme 'DIGITAL RENAISSANCE: THE NEW AGE ENTREPRENEURSHIP', on 12th Oct, 2023 in the College Auditorium.  The event was inaugurated by the dignitaries by lighting the lamp. The felicitation of the guest speakers was followed by an insightful panel discussion between the moderator, Dr. Payal Jain and the eminent speakers, i.e. Ms Radhika Bajoria, founder of Radically Yours; Ms Priyanka Madnani, founder of Easy to Pitch & IncuDash; Mr Deep Bajaj, founder of Sirona and Mr. Krishnan Sunderarajan, founder of Loka. From admiring their journeys of ebbs and flows into the entrepreneurial career to delving deep into the wide range of concepts, crucial for understanding and thriving in the digital era of entrepreneurship, the students were truly enlightened. The audience showcased its zeal and inquisitiveness by putting up thought-provoking questions and proposing innovative ideas.

She shared how she navigated through the challenges and opportunities in her career. Learnovation x 180DC -

The Commerce Association along with the 180 Degrees Consulting Club of Gargi College organised the event “Learnovation : Case Interviews Unleashed” on September 26, 2023. The Guest Speaker, Ms Sheetal Kakkar, a seasoned professional with experience in consulting at top renowned companies such as McKinsey and Sattva. Excelling in strategy research, financial analysis and stakeholder management, she commenced addressing the students with the importance as well as the growing demand for consultancy. The growing relevance of Consultancy in today’s world was displayed as it offers specialized expertise, objectivity and flexibility, helping organisations solve complex problems, adapt to change and stay competitive in a rapidly evolving business environment. The decision to opt for consultancy should be based on a careful assessment of your specific needs, goals and available resources.

Aikyam - The Gargi ComConnect Alumnae Speaker Series 2023-24

The second session of ComConnect Insights convened on September 19th, 2023, featuring Ms. Divya Jain, District Audit Officer in Meerut. Ms. Jain, an alumna of Gargi College, Class of 2015, delivered a profoundly insightful conversation. During her address, the esteemed speaker underscored the paramount importance of qualities such as perseverance, positive thinking, unwavering willpower, effective pressure management, and unwavering dedication in her five-year long journey to success. Ms. Jain delved into the critical aspect of mental well-being, particularly highlighting how examinations as rigorous as the UPSC demand meticulous preparation not only on a physical level but also on a mental one. She offered valuable counsel to the students, emphasizing the importance of having a Plan B while wholeheartedly dedicating oneself to the Plan A. In conclusion, Ms. Jain encapsulated her journey with a meaningful saying, "Safar khoobsurat hota hai, manzil se bhi," signifying that the beauty of the journey is as significant as the destination itself.

The Commerce Association of Gargi College celebrated Teacher's Day with a heartwarming event, acknowledging the profound impact teachers have on the world. The day began with the symbolic plantation of a tree sapling in the Sacred Garden, representing the growth and nurturing that teachers provide to their students. This gesture underscored the enduring influence of educators. Following this, souvenirs were distributed as token of appreciation, and photographs captured the joyous moments shared with the dedicated teachers. This celebration was a heartfelt expression of gratitude to those who tirelessly contribute to shaping the future, proving that indeed, "Those who teach, change the world over and over again."

Aikyam – The Gargi ComConnect Alumnae Speaker Series 2023-24

To commemorate the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Department of Commerce, 'Aikyam', the Alumnae Association of the Department of Commerce in collaboration with IQAC, Gargi College conducted the inaugural session of The Alumnae Speaker Series: ComConnect Insights on August 29, 2023. Ms. Urvashi Katyal was the guest speaker at the session. Ms. Urvashi Katyal, a 2015 alumna of Gargi College, discussed her journey from when she started to where she has reached now. While in college, she worked nine internships to eliminate her choices and choosing on "What Was Made For Her". Further, she discussed the challenges she faced in her workspace. All this time LinkedIn had been a very dear friend to her, as she networked and met new people.  In addition to the insights on her journey, she discussed her academic experiences and how they aided in her personal development. She listed having confidence in oneself, gaining experience, and networking, as three valuable lessons. The entire session was quite inspirational for all the attendees and they took home very important and thought provoking lessons, like " "Success is like an Addiction”, once you define that path and the destination there is no stopping you.”

Industrial Trip to The Trident Group in August 2023

The Department of Commerce conducted an Industrial trip to ANdaaz Delhi, for an exhibition organized by the Trident group. Trident is a 2 BN USD leading home textiles group. This event was attended by 21 students from both B. Com and B.com (H) combined. The event was led by CEO- Rajneesh Bhatia along with the other team members. The event emphasized learning that transcended textbooks. Students interacted with industry specialists who conveyed their valuable knowledge about brand, industry, and supply chain management. They also explained how they had begun as a B2B Business with one outlet and now have expanded to incorporate the B2C model as well. They also emphasized sustainability and how they are making use of Wheat Straw, Dry Grass, and other environment-friendly raw materials for their stationery range (MY CHOICE) without cutting down on trees and therefore successfully accomplishing the indispensable duty of CSR (Corporate Social responsibility).

Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav

The Commerce Association conducted an Online Webinar under the ageis of  G20 & Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, "Voices of Self Reliance - Unleash your Inner Entrepreneur" on 16th August 2023. The speakers were Ms. Chinu Kala and Ms. Aakriti Raval. Ms. Chinu Kala is a visionary creative entrepreneur, TEDx speaker, and former Mrs. India participant. She is the brains behind Rubans Accessories, a million-dollar company founded in 2014 and quickly rose to prominence. Ms. Aakriti Rawal -is creative director and co-founder of House of ChiKankari. She has been honored with the BW Young Entrepreneurship Award 2023. The mother-daughter duo recently showcased their work on Shark Tank India Season 2, where they shared the incredible journey of House of Chikankari. They shared their personal experiences and insights from their journey in the world of entrepreneurship.

Orientation 2023-24

The Department of Commerce, Gargi College, hosted an orientation program on August 16, 2023, in the college auditorium to welcome new students and acquaint them with the department and college. The event was a comprehensive introduction to various aspects of academic and extracurricular life within the Commerce Department. Prof. (Dr.) Sonali Ahuja Dua commenced the program by extending a warm welcome to the incoming students and providing an overview of the department's structure, faculty members, and the course curriculum in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) guidelines. Emphasis was placed on the Value Addition Course and Skill Enhancement courses, which would significantly contribute to the students' overall learning experience and credit accumulation. Students were also informed about The Commerce Association, and about Comascent, the bi-annual magazine of the Department of Commerce. Another noteworthy introduction was made to the newly established AIKYAM: The Gargi Comconnect, aimed at fostering connections between graduates and the college community, thereby enriching alumni engagement and networking opportunities. The orientation provided invaluable insights into the essence of being a Commerce Department student at Gargi College, emphasizing the department's role in facilitating personal and academic growth among its students.

Summer Internship

The Department of Commerce, Gargi College, initiated an internship programme for 2nd year students of the courses of B.Com and B.Com (Hons.). As part of the first batch of interns, five students were chosen for an internship that lasted until mid-August 2023. The students got experience in data analysis and presentation over the duration of the internship of 45 days. They were issued letters upon successful completion of their internship.

The Art of Being Happy Workshop June 2023

The Department of Commerce, Gargi College, organized an engaging workshop for students of the BA Programme, BCom Hons, and BCom Programme studying the Value Addition Course (VAC) paper, “The Art of Being Happy”. The workshop formed a part of students’ continuous assessment. The workshop was conducted by Mr Sanjiv Ranjan, Founder Director, All India Institute of Mind Body Medicine). The workshop commenced with a video clip of a beautiful self-reflecting poem written  by Mr. Sanjiv Ranjan. He distributed chocolates among the students and the faculty, to make us realise that small things also bring happiness in our life. He talked about how we should set about the journey from being happy to Happy Beings as well as staying happy always. Mr. Ranjan conducted various physical and mental exercises, such as yogic clapping and mental visualization, to help the audience experience a sense of calm, relief and joy. Another activity was conducted to impress upon the audience that if we are focused on our goal, the voices of the people discouraging us do not affect our progress. The extremely interactive session was wrapped up with a video of another poem  composed by Mr. Ranjan on 'Bachpan'. This poem on  childhood left a lasting impact as it rekindled the dormant inner child within each individual who were present in the Workshop.

Workshop on Financial Literacy

The Commerce Association of Gargi College organized a workshop on “Financial Literacy: Prosperity and Wealth” on May 19, 2023. Prof. Sangeeta Bhatia, Principal, Gargi College, and Prof. Amit Kumar Singh, Chairperson, Governing Body, Gargi College were in attendance. Shri Suryankant Sharma, Senior Consultant, AMFI was the speakers. The event saw an audience of 250+ students from Commerce and various departments. The event commenced with a note from Prof. Bhatia about the importance of Financial Literacy and its use as a tool of empowerment. Soon after, Prof. Singh gave points of wisdom about keeping track of finances. He applauded the college's initiative to start a Value-added course on Financial Literacy. Mr Sharma then took over the stage with engaging words about the need to start investing early. He also educated the faculty and students about government investment schemes such as the Sovereign Gold Bond and the Public Provident Fund. The floor was opened for questions, which were eagerly asked and answered. Mr Sharma also awarded curious students with souvenirs. The workshop was covered by DU Beat as an official media partner and was enjoyed by everyone alike.

Farewell 2023

The Commerce Association of Gargi College, on 24th April 2023, bid a fond and enthusiastic farewell to the graduating batch of 2023, celebrating the theme of "Spring Vibes" to symbolize the essence of new beginnings. The event was a beautiful blend of emotion, nostalgia, and hope for the future. One of the highlights of the evening was the distribution of titles and awards, bringing smiles and laughter as students were recognized for their unique qualities and contributions. The Miss Farewell Pageant added an element of glamor and talent to the evening, featuring a ramp walk, talent showcase, and a thought-provoking question-answer round, showcasing the multifaceted abilities of the graduating class. The investiture ceremony was a momentous occasion as the baton was passed to the incoming Commerce Association members, signifying the continuity of leadership and the commitment to carrying forward the legacy. The emotional journey of the graduating batch was eloquently captured in a video presentation that left not a dry eye in the house. The evening was sweetened by a cake-cutting ceremony, adding to the joy and nostalgia. The President delivered a heartfelt note, bidding adieu and imparting words of wisdom to the outgoing students. The Association thoughtfully provided personalized tote bags and stationery as souvenirs, ensuring that the batch of 2023 would have tangible memories to cherish and remember their Gargi College journey.

Pathfinder Competition 2022-23

The Pathfinder Competition 2022-23, organised by Department of Commerce, Gargi College, was held on 19th April 2023. The judges were Dr. Rajni Jagota, Associate Professor, PGDAV College, and Dr. Sonali Ahuja Dua, Associate Professor, Gargi College. The Pathfinder Committee, comprising Dr. Manju Sahai, Dr. Sonali Ahuja Dua, Dr. Payal Jain and Ms. Iti Verma coordinated the event. 18 teams had registered for the competition and 15 teams participated in the final round by making a 10- minute presentation on their topics.  5 teams won prizes, as mentioned below: i) First Prize was won by Drishika Bajaj, Jahnvi Rai, Jahnvi Saini, all pursuing B. Com III Year, who presented "New IT Rules: A Threat to Consumer Privacy and E-Commerce" under mentorship of Ms. Mohini Rajput. ii) Second Prize was shared by two teams - Agrima Kumar Rajvanshi, pursuing B.Com (Hons.) II Year, presented on "Global Economic Impact of the Energy Crisis of 2022", under the mentorship of Dr. Sonali Ahuja Dua. The other team sharing this prize was Ananya Kumra, pursuing B.Com (Hons.) III Year, who presented on "Impact of Clickbait on Users: Perception, Detection, and Prevention" under the mentorship of Ms. Isha Chugh. iii) Third Prize went to two teams - Sanjana Rastogi, studying BA (H) Business Economics II Year, and Tripty Wig, pursuing B.Com III Year, presented their research on "The Economic Impact of Counterfeiting" under the mentorship of Dr. Manju Sahai and Dr. Varun Bhandari. The second team of A. Priyadharshini, Samiksha Saini, and Smriti Kashyap, all pursuing B.Com (Hons.) II Year, presented on "Financial Literacy of College Going Students in Delhi Region", under the guidance of Dr. Anjali Siwal.

Commerce Association Level-Up Session by Jamboree

The Commerce Association, Gargi College in collaboration with Jamboree conducted a Level-up Session on Insights into International Level exams and Foreign Universities Admission Counseling on February 15, 2023. The guest speaker for the seminar, Ms. Nikita Rohra, an educational trainer at Jamboree, gave a brief introduction to the audience and then introduced the organization Jamboree and what benefits do they offer in gaining admission to overseas universities. She started the discussion on the topic why students prefer overseas education and mentioned top education abroad options. She further gave detailed insights into the US Education System and invited students for Education Fair 2023. In her presentation, she displayed a list of course options, differentiated between MIM and MBA and thoroughly discussed the admission criteria for Foreign Universities. In the end, she mentioned how beneficial Jamboree would be to students in their admission process to their dream universities. Cascade 2022-23

The Commerce Association, Gargi College organized its annual fest "Cascade’23" on the theme “Elevating Your Personal Growth: The Power of Personal Branding and Personal Finance”. The symposium's main themes were financial management for students and leveraging personal branding to advance both their jobs and themselves. There were almost 750 students in attendance from different departments at the event. The speaker session saw the presence of the Principal, Gargi College, Prof. Sangeeta Bhatia, the Keynote Speakers - Ms. Shivangi Narula, skill coach, and content creator, and Mr. Anant Ladha, founder of Invest Aaj Kal and financial coach. The speakers shared their valuable insights regarding the theme of the event. Ms. Narula talked to students about building their social capital and shared her journey of starting content creation. Mr. Anant Ladha shared valuable insights about managing personal finances and the disadvantages of trading during one’s college years. A Stand-Up Comedy Session was also held where Nishant Suri, the winner of the Comicstaan Season 1, lent hilarity to the event.

YouTube x Yuvaa (in collaboration with the Student Council)

The Commerce Association in collaboration with The Student Council, Gargi College, organized a YouTube Campus Champions' Programme, an initiative by YouTube and Yuvaa. The programme's agenda is to create the next YouTube influencers in India and make meaningful content very interesting. Only 4 colleges from India have been selected for this program. Gargi College is the only college which is selected from Delhi University. On February 3, 2023, an interactive session featuring Aastha, Head of YouTube Shorts India, and Shivesh Bhatia Baker, Food Blogger and Author, was held in the campus auditorium. Aastha briefly described the YouTube shorts and the kinds of content that could be used. Shivesh Bhatia spoke about the path he took to fulfill his ambition of being a content creator. With the students, he shared many of his experiences and inspired them to pursue their dreams no matter what.

Commerce Association - Level Up Session on Resume and LinkedIn Profile Building

The Commerce Association, Gargi College hosted a ‘Level-Up Session’ on Resume and LinkedIn Profile building on 13th January 2023. The guest speaker Vikramaditya Kumar Taneja is an investment specialist in Invest India and has had prior experience as a strategy and business intern at the Urban Company, a product management intern at Nykaa (luxe) and many more. He is the founder of DU connect and the Blue leaves Community and has taken an internship under EY. Mr Taneja shared valuable insights and discussed with students about building their profile as a story they wanted to portray. A variety of other things impacting resume and profile were also addressed. At the end of the session, questions from students were taken about the topic, which was answered by the speaker. Attendees described the session as “Substantial for corporate growth” while others as “Helpful and easy to understand”. The session had an audience of over 100 students from the Commerce Department.

Pathfinder 2022-23 Orientation

The Commerce Association, Gargi College organized Pathfinder Orientation on 30th November 2022.  The session was conducted in the Seminar Hall, Gargi College from 12.30 pm to 1.45 pm. The objective was to enlighten the students about the competition. Students were informed about the general guidelines, and stages of competition i.e., synopsis submission, thesis submission and presentation. This was followed by an informative session on the process of conducting research, by Dr. Geeta Siddharth, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce.

Seminar by Career Launcher

The Commerce Association, in collaboration with Career Launcher, hosted a session on "MBA: The Best Career Option" on 4th November, 2022. The guest speaker Mr. Sudeep Chauhan, currently working with CL in business development is an MBA - HM graduate with over 14 years of experience, a Hotelier with worldwide expertise, and a Banker with over 7 years of experience. The session started with a brief introduction and after that the most essential question of "why MBA?" was addressed. Students were given information on how to apply, tuition costs, return on investment, and the highest pay ranges in addition to a list of the top 25 MBA programmes in India. He further explained the MBA Admission process and ways through which candidates can build a strong profile. The emphasis was given on how an MBA is unquestionably one of the best degrees for a career change, as it allows for specialisation in Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Operations, IT, and Business Analytics. The important CAT success parameters - accuracy, speed, and question selection - were thoroughly explained.

Orientation 2022-23

The Commerce Association organised the orientation for the freshers on November 2, 2022, from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. Prof Sonali Ahuja Dua, the Teacher In-Charge of the Commerce Department to made the students aware of the academic aspects of the course, the significance of attendance, electives to be chosen and the rules and regulations of the institute. Himanshi Chhabra, the President of the Commerce Association and Ananya Kumra, the Vice-President, explained how the Commerce Association works. Editors of Comascent Magazine, Nandini Sharma and Tripti Bansal spoke about Comascent- The Bi-annual magazine of the commerce department.

Entrepreneurship Conclave 2022

The Commerce Association organized The Entrepreneurship Conclave, 2022, with the theme "Revival of India’s innovation spirit-strengthening entrepreneurs" on 12th October 2022. The theme revolved around the art of brainstorming, innovation, and problem-solving which encouraged students to start their ventures and make their mark in the field of entrepreneurship. The Entrepreneurship Conclave had a formal session in which the Gargi College Principal, Prof. Sangeeta Bhatia, the Chief Guest, Mr. Anil Khaitan, the Keynote Speaker, Dr. Munish Jindal, addressed the audience, along with eminent speakers and illustrious entrepreneurs Dr. Nancy Juneja, Ms. Meeta Gutgutia, Mr. Saurab Aggarwal, Ms. Kiran Pahwa, and Mr. Prashant Pitti from different industry spectrums shared their insights and knowledge on this year's theme. The speakers threw light on how essential it is to revitalize the spirit of entrepreneurs for economic growth. They explained the reality that building an entrepreneurial society is not just a financial endeavour but also a cultural one, one in which entrepreneurs should be given the freedom to try, fail and bounce back.

Research Visibility for Academic Success - Workshop Cum Hands-On Training

The Department of Commerce in association with the Department of Library organised a session with hands-on training on "Research Visibility for Academic Success" on September 28, 2022, from 12:20 to 1:20 pm in Computer Lab 1. The aim of the workshop was to impart knowledge on how to increase the visibility of research amongst the target audience and boost its impact. Dr. Babita Gaur, the Librarian of Gargi College, shared her experiences in the field of research. She introduced everyone to various online platforms which can be used to increase the visibility of research such as ORCID, Google Scholar and VIDWAN. Additionally, she assisted the participants in creating their accounts on these platforms. She also discussed some dos and don'ts for drafting a research paper and submitting it for publication. The audience was made aware of the usability of Social Media for publicising one's research work.
