Add-on Courses

The College has been conducting a few career intensive Add-on-courses for more than a decade. These are 80-100 hours courses and we invite Guest Faculty from the Industry and Academic Institutions of repute, for these courses.

 

Advertising and Marketing Communications

Coordinator : Dr. Geeta Kichlu

A course to provide an insight into the creative, strategic and interesting world of advertising was introduced to undergraduate students in the year 2004-05. Today, a decade down the line one can look back and take pride in the tangible and intangible value addition that the course has sought to provide. Students have interned and are working in the best agencies of the country – Ogilvy & Mather, McCann, BBDO, Universal Lode Star, etc.

 

Banking and Financial Services

This course has a broad-based curriculum and includes the study of Financial Markets, Investment Banking, Portfolio Management, Derivatives: Future and Options, Capital Structure Decisions, International Finance and Risk Management.

 

Mass Communication

The add-on course in Mass Communication caters to a basic human skill for the 21st century and the advent of the Internet which has seen an explosion of mass media. Students are taught the basics of Journalism, Media Landscape, Radio, TV, Film Language, Advertisements, PR &Digital Media.

With the knowledge of a foreign language, one definitely has an edge over others, and a lot of job opportunities open up, like Indian Foreign Services, academics and research, translation, interpretation or becoming a tourist guide to name a few.

 

Biotechcellence: Insights and Innovations

This course was introduced in the year 2017-18 with the aim of providing the undergraduate students an edge by learning basic biotechnological laboratory & bioinformatics procedures beyond the curriculum. The combination of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics has a wide range of industrial applications especially in the crucial field of drug development, targeting and drug-molecule interactions. The course offers highend bioinformatics tools and applications that have direct applications in the field of day-to-day research. This course, therefore, through rigorous training, prepares the students who are seeking higher academic degrees, research and industrial opportunities. At the end of the course, the students should be able to not only comprehend the basic as well as advanced laboratory research tools and techniques, but also perform them.)

 

Bioinformatics - Tools and Applications

Bioinformatics is an important component of Molecular Biology and Genomics Research. This field of study has a huge impact on the fields of Biomedical and Biotechnology Research. It is essential for the biologists to get familiar with the biological databases through which one can access genomics data to tackle new challenges in this 'omics' era. The objective of this course is to introduce students to basic computational tools necessary for the genomics research. The basic bioinformatics areas like biological databases, sequence alignment, molecular phylogenetics and structural bioinformatics will be dealt with, in this add-on course. This will help the students to gain knowledge of the basic principles of bioinformatics. The course has both theory and practical components as given in Delhi University syllabus with some additional topics. All the speakers for the course will be experts in this discipline working in esteemed institutes like, IIT, JNU, DU as well as from abroad.
