Gargi College is one of the two colleges and the only Women's college in the University of Delhi to have BIF. It has been funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India since 2008, with an annual grant for maintenance, manpower, training and other allied expenses. This facility enables undergraduate students from all science courses to do bioinformatics projects beyond their curriculum. These projects often lead to the presentation of research work at national and international conferences, which is rewarding and very motivating for the students. Implementation of interdisciplinary as well as multidisciplinary projects is especially encouraged. Under the BIF programme, workshops are conducted for students as well as faculty members to keep them updated about the advances made in this field. Besides undergraduate students, the facility has postgraduate students, trainees and Research Associates who contribute to research publications. Based on research publications, Gargi College BIF was adjudged amongst the top five BIFs of undergraduate colleges.
