The National Service Scheme (NSS) at Gargi College, University of Delhi, is a student-led social service organization working under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Established with the motto "Not Me, But You," NSS Gargi fosters a spirit of selfless service, social responsibility, and community engagement. It provides a platform for students to contribute meaningfully to society while developing leadership and teamwork skills and become the meaningful vehicles of awareness in the demographics.
The NSS unit at Gargi College is guided by Prof. Shrinivas Tyagi from the Department of Hindi, who serves as the Programme Officer, leading the team with dedication and vision. Under his mentorship, the unit continuously strives to create a positive societal impact through various initiatives, fun activities, panel discussions, seminars and many more.
Cultivated in the belief that true satisfaction and service acquires by giving back to society, the NSS Gargi culminates a multitude of virtues to foster strong community ties, intricate and interwoven events to collaborate with various NGOs, societies, etc to encourage and uplift its ethos.

Vision
NSS Gargi envisions fostering a generation of socially responsible, empathetic, and proactive individuals who contribute meaningfully to society. By engaging students in various service-oriented initiatives, the unit aims to nurture a culture and practice of volunteering, donations and selfless service.
It manifests a future of socially responsible student that empower the communities, are environmentally conscious and judicial in their use of various resources.
NSS Gargi believes in holistic development, where students not only excel academically but also grow into compassionate beings dedicated to the betterment of society.
Mission
To instill a sense of civic responsibility and volunteerism among students by conducting impactful community outreach programs addressing social, health, and environmental issues, collaborating with NGOs, clubs, and other stakeholders for meaningful social work.
It truly emphasizes a future where the following lines seems justified -

Society Activities
ZISTATVA – The Annual Diwali Fest inaugurated by NSS in collaboration with the Student Council, along with various NGOs, providing them the platform and enhancing the sense of community service.
SATURDAY SUVICHAR - A digitalised initiative, advertised via the social media handles of NSS Gargi, brings distinct 'Myths' and 'Facts' on unconventional and diverse topics, seen in our community, fulfilling the objective of raising awareness by busting common misconceptions.
SPOTLIGHT UNPLUGGED – An Open Mic Session encouraging students across the institution to ascend the stage and share their poetic verses, singing flair, etc stepping into the spotlight.
CANCER AWARENESS DRIVE – An initiative to yield awareness and encourage fellow students to enthuse confidence amongst their known cancer individuals.
POSTER MAKING – A fun and engaging activity amongst the volunteers to induce and broaden their artistic expression.
JAB WE TALK – A n interactive session with our guide and Programme Officer Dr. S. N. Tyagi to inculcate societal values and cultivate effective exchange of thoughts and varying ideas.
EXTEMPORE COMPETITION - An intriguing extempore competition was conducted on 4th March, 2025 whereby the students were given varied topics ranging from women centric issues to daily life stigma. This contest enriched the value of in-depth thinking and public speaking skills.
ONLINE SPEAKER SESSION - An impactful speaker session was conducted on 6th March, 2025 with Ms. Vandana Mishra, Additional Superintendent of Police, Uttar Pradesh Police. She delivered a compelling and insightful address on women's empowerment, leaving a profound impact on the students.
PROJECT HIFAZAT - organized by Bal Umang Drishya Sanstha (BUDS) in collaboration with NSS Gargi College and Jesus and Mary College (JMC), marked International Women’s Day with a rally, cultural performances, and an awareness session on menstrual hygiene, culminating in a sanitary pad donation drive at the BUDS Pace Centre, Sarai Kale Khan – Nizamuddin.
